I do not generally get into short stories very often but after I read a few paragraphs I was hooked to Hemmingway’s story. It was a little difficult to see when the story was reaching its mini climax but it was interesting. I believe what I was doing the most, was putting myself in that position and wondering what I would do or say if I was in the cook, or Georges position. It really reminded me of a bank robbery. I believe the climax when Al instructed the cook, sam and nick to get in the back. For a while, I was trying to understand why they had to hold them hostage. I did not even understand the point of that part. I wanted to say that I did not like it because it seemed too open ended but at the same time I like how each part built on the other. I really wish I could know what Mr. Anderson did and what he did after the conversation with Nick Adams.
I watched both of the movies and I like the first one more. It seemed more believable. I also think that is how I imagined it more in my head. I like how it starts with the guys driving up. One thing that was common throughout both the movies and the paper was that Al was definitely the one in charge. The way Al was talking down at Max. One last thing that drove me crazy was the purpose of the clock that was 20 minutes fast. I had trouble finding the purpose for the slow clock. I was able to enjoy the “younger version “ of the Killers. Even though it was modern, it still had an older flavor to it. When Al and Max got behind the counter in this video, It reminded me of a scene from the matrix or something.
Again I was trying to imagine what I would do if I was in the same situation. The Guys started out being rude to the George right off the back. I would have said something about house manners of the diner. (Especially in the younger addition). Overall, it was interesting but I do not think any more or less of it.
